Currently I do not have a job next to my studying, but the last couple of years I had lovely jobs:
- I worked at Sotheby's: It was nice to work with all these beautiful artworks. However, because I had to stand a lot I sufferd from a lot of backpain, so I quit that job. - I also worked for the university newspaper. I wrote articles for them about student events, and for a while I wrote a story every week about books! The idea was that I invited one student every week who had been in the limelight, and he or she could buy books for 50 euro's (!) at the expense of the paper. Then I would write a little story about the choises this student made. - Last year I was a student-assistant at the uni, which meant that I assisted the professors with all sorts of things. Unfortunately my job ended due to lack of money from the uni.

I didn't work in high school. i wanted to at some point (i was into the whole being independent thing) but my parents didn't approve. they thought it would be better if i focused on studying and getting into a good university. in uni, i got a job in a construction company as a computer assistant. i used certain programs designed especially for the company to insert their work data and get the information they need. i also helped organize the details about the company's projects using excel and sometimes typing official contracts and similar papers as well. i worked there for a few months, the job was repetitive and boring but the money was good. but less than a month ago the company decided they would rather get someone who is older and could work full time and be more dedicated to the job (someone who does this as a career thing rather than a temporary part-time job). so now im in the job hunt business again . i agree with Dominique about the library job and experience thing. it happened to me too. i recently applied for a librarian job and they said they would rather use someone experienced and maybe someone with a diploma in library work as well.

I didn't work in high school. Partly because I'm not the working type and partly because its hard to get a job when you're under 18 that doesn't involve Pizza Places and other Fast food places.
I've only had one job in my enitre short life and that would be my current one at Best Buy a huge electronics chain store for those of you who don't know what Best Buy is. They're slowly taking over the world so most of you probably do know about it. I worked as a Cashier and Customer Service person for 3 months till I got the job as a Magnolia Home Theater department Administration worker. So I dress in business casual clothes instead of the blue polo. I also now do a whole lot of nothing because our scheduling systems have changed. The work that i do do I get done in an hour and then spend the next 3+ hours just hanging out. I get paid more than a lot of people in the store and more than all my friends and I do a whole lot less work. It's a pretty good deal since we get an employee discount.
I am a little bored with it all, but I doubt I'd find something that pays as well.

i've worked during high school and college. its difficult. it's hard to budget your time with school and work. I currently work at an alarm company which gives me time to do some homework. I used to work at a bank, medieval times, pastry shop and daycare. I just started keeping my eyes out for a job for after graduation.

All my employment details have changed since I started this thread (thank goodness). I currently work one day a week at a local paper and also as a shop assistant in a men's wear store. I agree it is so hard to work while studying sometimes, my main issue is with the shop. They're always either cutting all my shifts or giving me so many it's impossible to do any uni work at all.
Also I'm probably looking more at law as a career than journalism now (to update my first thread).

I work at a bowling alley. There's ups and downs to every job but it's an O.K job I guess. I have to touch shoes after people have worn them which kind of sucks!

I work at Einstein Brothers Bagels on campus about 2-3 days per week for short shifts. It kinda sucks, but I'm not going to work there next year. I also am on the lookout for a summer job. I really really want to work at either Borders or Barnes and Noble, for obvious reasons.

I used to work as an assistant for a researcher at the National Observatory and it was really a great job... Two summers ago I worked as a waitress at a coffee shop. The tips were great but it was exhausting! I couldn't feel my small toes for a couple of months after!
Now I would like to get a job, I certainly miss having money to buy books, shoes etc but I'm afraid I won't have time to study and I really, really want to graduate...

Lol I worked at KFC for three years I had two offers at the same time, the KFC job wasn't really near my house, and it just seemed more greasy than working in a coffee house, lol.
