I have all the seasons on dvd, but my favorites are season 1-4. I agree with those who think Rory changes too much in the later seasons, plus the first seasons has this warm, cosy feeling about them!

After season 4 I think the show started to lose some of its spark and uniqueness. But season 5 &6 are good...just not as good as the first ones.

I agree, when I first saw the 4th season I felt there were something different, not worse...just a bit different!

I have aspects i love of the first 4 seasons primarily... for some reason, i find season 4 a comfort just coz Rory is finally unattatched for the most part, so in here corner at least, i have no male to get annoyed with, hehe - though Jason of course makes up for that by getting on my nerves! I'm not really answering that question..... right, so i'd have to say seasons 3 and 4 probably... and like most of you, the second Rory really started to go off-kilter, i felt the show went downhill... which was a real shame, coz it put a damper on us finally getting to see Luke and Lorelei together!

So guys, please don't hate me but... I'm rewatching Season 3 for the first time since it aired and I don't know if it's because I'm older or what, but Jess strikes me as a bit of a loser this time around. Like, I fell for him at the beginning like Rory did, but now that they're actually together he's always acting like a jerk and Rory spends all her time making up excuses for him and she's not able to enjoy the things that usually make her happy because he thinks they're not cool enough... I know he's a very tormented and self-destructive kid, but that's no excuse for treating her the way he does. I certainly wouldn't want one of my friends to go out with a guy like that! And I know he's bright and all, but throwing his life away to work at Wal-Mart doesn't strike me as a very intelligent choice.
I guess I understand now how some of you feel about Holden Caulfield, because that's pretty much the way I feel about Jess at the moment. At least I know that he'll get his act together in the future, but I'm not a big fan of his right now... Anyone else feels or has felt this way about him or is it just me?

I've always had a soft spot of season three. It may have something to do with Jess being in a lot of the episodes.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. He didn't treat Rory very well at all. But there's this mysterious quality he has that you can't help but fall in love with.

Yeah, I'm sure that's why I liked him so much the first time around (good looking and mysterious). But I guess I'm now being more sensible about the whole thing, and that's why I'm so disappointed in him. He does have a lot in common with Rory, but they don't show us much scenes of the two of them hanging out and watching movies as they did with Dean. They're either fighting or making out, so it doesn't show Jess under the best light...

I can see that. My views change each time I watch the series. I like Logan better each time for sure. And Jason less. But Jess got his act together eventually.
I think I said that Season 3 was my favorite, but when I was recently watching season 5, I was finding a lot of episodes and scenes that I loved. That might be my favorite.
