Lorelai came to Star's Hollow when she was 16-17. So, Assuming her and Luke are around the same age...how did he have his diner at that time? The horoscope was given to him when she first moved to Star's Hollow. Unless he started his diner around 20...but then again He was with Anna when he opened it. He would of had to be with her for many years.... If they weren't together long, it was only about 12 years ago he opened the diner.
This might not make sense...i'm just thinking

the diner would have still been the hardware store back then wouldn't it? Maybe he used to work there back then, but Loralei was to busy with the baby to know about Lukes girlfriend?
But then maybe Luke is older than Loralei and the diner was open.

Even with Rachel she didn't know about her...
but it had to be be open because she just came into town and went to his shop...asked for coffee and gave him the horoscope right?

ohh ok i forgot about that. Hmm maybe Luke is older than Loralei. Maybe she was too busy with Rory growing up to know about his goings on and stufff, they probably didn't know eachother as well back then?

I thing that poisonpen is probably riight. Loralei was living at the inn where odds are she was eating all or her meals and spending most of her time she prpbably was in the actual town very little so she wouldnt have been connected to Luke.. maybe this bond didnt start untill she and Rory bought their house is SH? I dunno just some thoughts

I just watched the Horoscope episode...and he said he kept it in his wallet 8 years. That was the first time they met. So this is in season 5 and Rory is at Yale... she's 18. Rory was 10...but Rory was in kindergarden with Lane. So they were there 5 years before she met Luke.

Does anyone remember how in the first few episodes no one knows Kirk? He comes to install internet and Loralei doesn't know him? And there are a few more scenes where he's a stranger to everyone. That always cracks me up when I watch it.
But yes, as for the topic at hand....I think it gets dicey. I remember that Loralei doesn't meet Luke until a long time after she moves there, but they never explain why. It seems weird for such a small town when they've mentioned all of about 4 main places to get food.

Oh ya Kirk's name was also Mick. Then people liked the character so they wrote him in as Kirk.
I just find it weird that in a small town Lorelai doesn't know certain things about Luke. Like, his "dark day"and Rachael.

How big is Stars Hollow anyway, does anyone know? Because most of the time I think of it as a small village, but then once in a while something is said that makes me think it's more like a small town. I grew up in a town of 10,000 people, which is pretty small, but it was still too big for me to know everyone...

That's what I've always thought. And even if you don't know everyone, you know people who know the people.

That's sort of how I pictured it as well though, like not so big that everyone would know everyone, but still small for people to be fairly connected to eachother. Like in my town where you always find out that you and someone else have some other mutual connection through someone even if it isn't how you met them.

my city is the biggest city in our county, hence why it's the county seat. it's the only city with a university in the county except for a smaller school about 20 miles south that's just barely in the county. there's about 30,000 people in my city, because of the university. there are lots of rural villages/towns around us because it's all farmland. i always imagined stars hollow to be about the size of one of those villages, where all the farmers know all the other farmers lol
