I'm reading Gone With the Wind and I hate all of the characters. Scarlett and Rhett are so deliciously terrible but Melanie is just ick.

Lost in a Good Book; Thursday Next is a great heroine, but some of the minor characters are fun indeed! It's hard to really like anyone in the Historian coz you never truly know any of them personally

In The Shifting Fog by Kate Morton Hannah is my favourite. I can really understand how difficult it must have been for a woman to grow up in late 1910's having ambitions and dreams that are very difficult to put into action.

I think Hank Stampler is my favorite in Sometimes a Great Notion. At least so far. He just seems kind of sympathetic or something.

Even though I just finished, I really liked Blue in Special Topics in Calamity Physics. She's intelligent, vulnerable, and witty. Very interesting character.

I'm currently reading Through Black Spruce by Canadian author Joseph Boyden, which won the 2008 Giller Prize. My favorite character in the novel is Annie because she's such a strong female character, and I admire her a great deal - she's very resilient, self-sufficient and determined.
