Since I am currently trying to not buy any books, I went to the library today, and got several great things:
Books: -A Wind In The Door by Madeleine L'Engle (one of the companion novels to A Wrinkle In Time) -The Collected Stories by Amy Hempel (looked interesting, and was one of the 10 best books of the year according to the New York Times book review) -Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami (I've been wanting to read his work, and I actually have time to read short stories right now) -13 Ways of Looking at the Novel by Jane Smiley (I've had my eye on this for a long time)
CDs: -Soundtrack to Marie Antoinette -America IV: The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash -Both Sides of the Gun by Ben Harper -Essence by Lucinda Williams -There Will Be a Light by Ben Harper and the Blind Boys of Alabama -Christmas with Johnny Cash
DVDs: Shopgirl The French Chef with Julia Child

I'd really like to read Rosemary's Baby, I've never been able to find it at a book store Since we had a little change of plans, I've got two Paris travel guides out.

Today two of my reserves came in for me at the library:
The Higher Power of Lucky by Susan Patron (just won the Newbery medal- I'm very excited to read) Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl (very interested in this since she's been recommended if you like Dave Eggers and Jonathan Safran Foer, both of whom I love, and also because lots of people here have enjoyed it or are planning on reading it too.)

I got these at the library: -The picture of Dorian Gray/Oscar Wilde -Moby Dick/Herman Melville -Slaughter house 5/Kurt Vonnegut (in Dutch) I read slower in English, but I'm enjoying it very much. CDs: -A Jazz Message/Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers -Soultrane/John Coltrane -Unlimited Edition/CAN
My mom works at the library. I don't have to pay for cds and dvds like everybody else, and I can take as many books as I want. (which is kind of awesome, really)

I have too many books in my must read pile to check any out from the library. lol. But when I do go, it's normally during school hours. Since I'm homeschooled I can go when I want. It's a lot more quiet then, no little kids running around or anthing. Plus, I don't have to wait in line! lol

OOOfff... i hate our library. it's one of those small branch libraries that never have anything until about a month after its release date and then the book becomes so backlogged and u never get to read it... I went to get my books that were on HOLD hAd to be shipped from the head hancho of the library Headquarters. Anyway i had looked online and found out that they had a copy of Suite Francaise available but when i asked the librarian she said that their copy was missing and that i have to put that one on hold as well. That's great, so then i thought ok i'll get a headstart on Bookdiscussion #5 which was Reading Lolita in Tehran and i found out that that was checked out as well. So yea!! Now i remember why i don't bother and just buy my own books!!

That's my problem with libraries. Most of the books are french here, and I have no patience when the books are not in.
