I didn't think it was written so that you didn't like the characters, at least not all of them. Isabella just had that childhood nievity about her and I still quite liked her despite her foolishness. I didn't mind the second Catherine either. I think it's such a great book because it's so multi-faceted. All the relationships intertwining in different ways, reflecting or subverting other ones.

^I agree 100%. I think the reason I've read it so many times is 1) the fact that I did a year long project my senior year on it and 2) the fact that I always feel like an outsider when I read it. I feel like there's a fundemental truth to the relationships at the core that I'm missing but coming close to understanding. Maybe it's the various frames of the narrative that create that intriguing distance

the distance thing is very true. I like it how you are distanced enought to analyse the characters, their intricate relationships, motives, influences and interactions. It's like a study of relationships.

It's gonna take some time i think... kind of like when i had to absorb the shock of Gerri leaving the Spice Girls..... if it's anything, i don't dislike it (DD) and i certainlydo understand it better now, considering it wasn't 11pm or something when i watched it the second time.

yeah I didn't appreciate it so much the first time. It took a few watches and some online searches about what it meant for me to warm to it the way I have.

I hate Donnie Darko, I don't even want to try and see what I missed. I know I missed something, because I don't understand why someone would of liked it. LOL

oh come on, you must have liked something about it. Apart from the storyline it had an amazing soundtrack. I thought the movie as a whole was really well done. It just takes a couple of watches to get your head around it.

Speaking of movies and linking back to WH, I must watch the 93 film version again sometime soon... i just really need to be reminded of how good Ralph Fiennes can be at making you LOATHE him..... and Juliette Binoche plays the bratty spoiled girl so very well.....
