I finished this one today. Great story. I love books about books and the Thirteenth Tale makes you want to read all the victorian classics again: Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights... My mother started to read it today and I want to give it to all my friends, whoc think I am completely crazy, because I talked about the book all the time.

I'm reading Thirteenth Tale, it's wonderful so far and it seems it will get even better! It's absolutely great, I was reading it while waiting for lunch to be cooked (I was cooking a pasta for my mother and I) and I was so caught by the book that the pasta got terrible overcooked ;D aww ...luckly my mom hasn't complained about it.

I finished The Thirteenth Tale and I really loved it, it's a wonderful book. Thanks for your post, zelda! It's very interesting.
I've made up my mind about the period in which the story could be set, I agree with memccart and I think Vida's story is set at the end of 1800s, that's what the lack of technology made me think. In present day Margaret might have checked if Vida was telling the truth from a computer, or send an email instead of a letter, and so on. I loved the fact that there's no time period, it's great because I can imagine. I think that Vida had saved Adeline from the fire. I was shocked when I found out Vida's true identity, that explain why she told the first part of her story using the third person referring to Adeline, and then started using the first person...but while I was reading I thought it was not intentional, that it was due to Vida's difficulties to tell the true story. I also liked so much Margaret's character and her work. I also liked doctor Clifton, he's great when he prescribed Margaret Sherlock Holmes's stories as a medicine!

I thought the change from third person to first person was also because it was hard for her to tell the story. I thought that maybe she didn't think the old Adeline was really herself and it was easier for to use thrid person until the true Adeline came out. But I guess I was wrong

I just finished this book, it wasn't what I was expecting. I'm not sure what I expected but it was great! The lack of a time frame was very interesting. The ending was unpredictable, and I really liked that. I knew Aurelius was one of the twins son. I liked that she decided not to publish the novel, until later. The twin story was very interesting my dad is a twin and I saw the relationship that he and his brother had. My uncle was killed and the night that it happened my dad was twisting and turning in his bed, he was basically fighting in his sleep. Whenever my uncle was hurt my dad could feel it. This book was very original and I would recommend it. What did you think about the last tale?

Me too, he really want a family and he finally find a sister with two nice kids. I'm not sure about the last tale, maybe it's Vida's story...but I don't know how much her story has in common with the other twelve tales..
