I often read an italian daily newspaper "La repubblica" (that means "the republic")and sometimes some magazines published with it. I know I'm not a good reader of periodicals...

I read the two belgian newspapers in dutch that aren't only after sensational headlines: De Morgen (the morning) and De Standaard. (the standa... you see xD) I read all that comes in my hands from the JNM, which stands for jeugdbond voor natuur and milieu. Simply said: A youth movement thing (like the scouts) who study nature and care about the environment. That is why I am kind of obsessed with grasshoppers... Basically, I read everything that I find. Advertisements, stupid local papers....

I pretty well just read my local paper. And sometimes the Calgary Herald. Mostly for the comics and Arts & Entertainment though.

So you live in the dutch speaking part of Belgium? Vlaanderen?
I read the magazines Neon and Zeit Campus and sometimes Instyle. I mostly read the newspapers others leave in the tram or the local newspaper when I´m home at my parents´.

I mostly read the newspapers others leave in the tram or the local newspaper when I´m home at my parents´. I do that too. Reading papers left on the train that is. There's nothing like doing a sudoku puzzle with someone's abandoned paper to give a rather staid game a little hint of danger... When I read the Metro (a free london daily) i usually gaffaw at how bad the reporting is. Our locals are pretty dull. My little brother loves reading the magistrates court listings in our local to see how many people he knows or how people have broken the law. Recently there has been quite a bit of vandalism of children's trampolines. lol

I've been subscribing to the National Geographic Magazine since it's been published in German for the first time (I've been collecting it since then and I've never thrown an issue away). Actually, my mother subscribes to it and I get to read it. Unfortunately, my parents get it delivered to their home. And as I moved out, my mum now has one more possibility of bribing me into visiting them at least once a month!

I don't buy magazines all the time because they've gotten so expensive. But when I do my favourite titles are: Time Frankie Yen (frankie and yen are both women's magazines, but I like them because they have no makeup tips and nothing about pleasing men in them. Just fashion, art and entertainment) Walkley Magazine (the journalism union's magazine, full of interesting stories of Australians and their journalism in all kinds of crazy places around the world, as well as issues with media law reform and other current pressures on the industry) The Bulletin

I flip through our local paper and sometimes larger newspapers for whatever to read while I'm eating or bored. I don't have any magazine subscriptions anymore (waaay too pricey!) but at one time I had subscriptions to the following:
ElleGirl Teen Vogue Guideposts for Teens/Sweet Sixteen Seventeen Practical Horsemen Horse Illustrated
I do love magazines. I threw away most of mine but I have have some still in magazine boxes on my bookshelves. I love buy British horse magazines because they are always chock full of stuff!

Oh my goodness, I'm crazy about magazine subscriptions. I subscribe to SO many. It's so hard to keep up with them, especially when I'm reading books all the time!
One of my favorite quotes about books and magazines is: "When I read a magazine, I feed connected to the world, in on everything. When I read a book, I feel removed from the world, isolated, as if I've slipped off into a soundproof booth. It is the same with listening to the radio (connected) verses listening to a CD (removed). Both fill a certain need, balance the other out. There's the going away, and then there's the coming back." - Amy Krause Rosenthal (author of one of my favorite memoirs - Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life)
I subscribe to: (keep in mind - I'm in marketing and promotions and it's my job to keep on top of cultural trends and happenings - but i DO have too many probably)
In Style Marie Claire Ready Made (great craft magazine) New York The New Yorker Entertainment Weekly Time Time Out New York (weekly events in New York) Elle Vogue Allure Interview Preview Vanity Fair
Then, there are the magazines I don't subscribe to, but buy EVERY month: -Mental Floss -Paris Review -Believer -GOOD
In the US it is very cheap to subscribe to magazines. With a lot of monthly magazines, you can subscribe and get 12 issues for the price of buying 2 or 3 in the store. So, since over a year, I would normally buy at LEAST 2 to 3, it's a better deal to just subscribe.

I'm starting out in PR at the moment, am glad to hear that I can now justify buying and reading lots of mags (thanks!) Like the quote, never thought of it that way but it does make sense I guess. Subscribing is cheaper in the UK but not THAT cheap! My year's sub to Private Eye is £24 which is 80p a magazine, well worth it for the mirth and ire it provides me with.

it's the same here, 11 for the price of 12. Do you actually find time to read them all zelda? That's why I haven't subscribed to anything much. My family subscribes to the local paper, the sydney weekend papers and the bulletin and I often don't find time to read them all. A pile starts mounting up at the end of the bed and every week it grows It's supposed to be my job to do the same kind of thing, look at all publications possible for possible ideas for stories or publications to pitch to and stay up to date with current affairs but it's hard to get on top of!
