I read "Memoirs of a Geisha" last year before the movie came out, and I really loved it. I've noticed there are a few other Geisha books around and I was wondering if anyone's read any of them and enjoyed them. The two I've seen are "The Geisha of Gion" by Mineko Iwasaki, which is an autobiography, and "Geisha" by Liz Dalby.

Ive read memoirs as well. No other ones. But I have seen some around. Last year I went to Japan and was lucky enough to go into Gion with my friends. It was amazing. A very magical place. I was even able to get a photo with a real Geisha.

that sounds really exciting, I hope to do that when I go to Japan this year. Did it cost much? What else would you recommend doing while in Gion/Japan

I think you should read the book before you see the movie, I found the movie a bit disappointing...
