Hey guys. A few of us were chatting on twitter about how we miss this place so I thought I'd see if there was interest in getting a book discussion going. Thoughts? Book suggestions?

I'd be in for one! I am just going to list a few books that I own but haven't read yet : - A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan - White Teeth by Zadie Smith - The long Song by Andrea Levy ... I have more books but I am not home atm, so I can't remember which ones! or is it time for a classic? Or will we just do whatever

I'm in. As I said on twitter, I miss our book club discussions! I'll think of books to suggest (it seems like I can't think of anything right now...)

Awww, this makes me nostalgic! I'm kinda working 3 jobs at the moment, but I'm in (would really appreciate something not super epic ). As for suggestions...I'll try to think of a couple of titles.

Something short would work well for me too. I currently have a lot of reading commitments. Here are a few suggestions: The Ballad of the Sad Cafe by Carson McCullers A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway (or anything by Hemingway really) Em

I'm totally there! I have been "reading" a book for about two months (I'm really only about 70 pages into it), so I could definitely use some motivation.
I don't mind either way if we do a classic or a contemporary. Just let me know!!

As I am currently interning till the end of the month and also have to start work on my thesis, I am also ok with something short. Might be easier to ease us back in to the game!

A short novel would be great...or we could try a novella? I love the format but hardly ever read any. Not sure why. Anyway, I tried to think of some titles:
The House on Mango Street (Sandra Cisneros) Angels & Insects (A.S. Byatt) The Bloody Chamber (Angela Carter) Chess (Stefan Zweig) Child's Play (David Malouf) Day of the Locusts (Nathanael West) The Day the Leader Was Killed (Naguib Mahfouz)

I'm in! I go back to school soon, so something short would be perfect for me, as well.

Short works for me. I can't really think of any suggestions though! Should we give it a few more days to get suggestions out there and then make a poll? Or will we lose momentum?

I am more for the suggestion/poll option I have tried to compile some ideas of short novels/short stories (mainly based on what I have here on my TBR pile): - Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. But I don't know if it counts as a short novel. I checked on amazon and the English version is of 128 pages. I have a French version and it is quite a small book. But I don't know if it is short enough. - Daisy Miller by Henry James. Also a short one, 112 pages (English version),104 pages (French version). Otherwise, a collection of short stories can be great too. It has the advantage that we can make a discussion after reading each short stories and it can be a great way of getting back into tracks
