What books read in 2010 did you enjoy the most? Here's my top 5 list (in no particular order): - The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
- The Witches by Roald Dahl
- We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
- Barney's Version by Mordecai Richler
- A Room with a View by E.M. Forster
[edit]: changed the title of the thread to ".. read this year".

I just bought "The House at Riverton" by Kate Morton. Has anyone read it? Is it good?

I don't know, sagedautumn, I haven't read it. My list is also in no particular order. But I had a hard time choosing 5, so I went with a few more
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger Genesis by Bernard Beckett We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson Auntie Mame & Around the World with Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis Wench by Dolen Perkins-Valdez Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood Life of Pi by Yann Martel People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden It's good to see some books I want to read on your top 10 list, Kristie.

It wasn't easy to narrow it down to 5, but here we go: - Old School, by Tobias Wolff
- The Remains of the Day, by Kazuo Ishiguro
- We have always lived in the castle, by Shirley Jackson
- The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
- Howards End, by E.M. Forster

- The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice
- The Hours by Michael Cunningham
- Bianca come il latte, rossa come il sangue (White as milk, red as blood) by A. D'avenia

I read a lot of books this year so it's really hard to choose just five. I decided to go with a top eight list. I also excluded the books I reread this year beause I obviously like them a lot. So here are my top eight books: - The New York Trilogy (Hope this isn't cheating, it was published in a single volume.)
- Lettre à D. by André Gorz
- Der Kampf geht weiter! Nicht weggeschmissene Briefe by Harry Rowohlt
- Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami
- If on a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino
- Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
- The Hours by Michael Cunningham
- 1984 by George Orwell
It's nice to see that you liked The Hours too, Lu.

It's nice to see that you liked The Hours too, Lu. It's nice to see a favorite book on other's list. The Hours is really good! How was reading it and Mrs Dalloway the same year? I've been meaning to re-read Mrs Dalloway since I finished The Hours. Oh, it's also nice to see The Help on Pia's top 5 read. I loved that book!

I've been meaning to re-read Mrs Dalloway since I finished The Hours. It was interesting. I read The Hours shortly after I'd read Mrs Dalloway and Mrs Dalloway's Party, a collection of short stories by Virginia Woolf centered around the party at the end of Mrs Dalloway. I'd recommend reading them together like that. It kind of prolonged the nice experience of reading Mrs Dalloway.

I haven't read Mrs Dalloway Party, I'll look for it at library.
