We'll be discussing a contemporary novel this time. Any suggestions?

The first I can think of is The Hours by Michael Cunningham (because it's on my shelf waiting to be read). I remember the last time The History of Love by Nicole Krauss and The View from Castle Rock (among others) were mentioned.

I've already read The Hours, but I would love to do The History of Love.

Same for me, I've already read The Hours, but I would love to read & discuss The History of Love and The View from Castle Rock

I nominate Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Goldman. I have had this book for years and haven't read it. I have seen the movie, so I think there might be some interesting stuff to talk about.
I have also been meaning to read Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Sijie Dai and Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear.

I read Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress some years ago (and I liked it), I think it might be a good choice for a discussion.

I've voted for The View from Castle Rock only because I recently got it from library and I'll read it soon anyway, but any other option is good for me.

Is View from Castle Rock a collection of short stories?

Yes, it's a collection of stories that are all linked together, kinda like memoirs

I voted for The History of Love, mostly because I've already read both Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress (but I think it would be very interesting to discuss it though) and The Hours.

Since this thread is over two months old, should we just choose one of the two that are tied. I'm ready to discuss a new book!

I think Lu and Juliet are both currently reading The View from Castle Rock, so should we do that one?

Sounds good to me. I don't have time to return The View from Castle Rock to the library now and they allowed me keep it for other 30 days. We could do Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress next.
