Nothing in a while But I just realized that the biggest 2nd hand English bookshop in Germany is right around the corner from where I'm interning atm, and everything's 25% off this week...basically I just wanted to share because I'm so excited...purchases coming up...I hope Oh, lucky you I totally understand that you are excited. Since I am not living in an English-speaking-country, I am well aware how it is difficult to find a English bookshop and how it is even more difficult to find a second-hand English bookshop! Hope you will find many great books for a great low price

Thanks! They even have a café and allow you to brosw while drinking coffee! I know it's so difficult to just load up on used books when you mainly read in another language and those books are mostly expensive or at least full-prized and the selection is limited. I'll report after my spree Though I still only have a student's bank account

I'm extremely happy because I've recently found some books I've been eyeing for ages. In Uruguay we don't have many stores that sell books in English and some of the ones I'm interested in aren't available in Spanish, so it gets a bit difficult...
I found White Teeth, by Zadie Smith, some Faulkner books and my boyfriend bought me a gorgeous edition of Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi.

Oh those sound great! And lots of fun with your mini bookclub!
I got Bryant & May on the Loose by Fowler, from the fantastic used store near my workplace. But even 2nd hand books are soo enxpensive here. It's way cheaper to fly to (w/ return) London and rob the charity shops.

I totally know what you mean: here, in Belgium, I haven't found a Second Hand bookshop with English books and English books are so expensive. It is more than 10 euros per book! I think the best is buying English books in charity shops when going to London. I hope I will go in January during the holiday week after finals

Some days ago, I bought a copy of Froth on the Daydream by Boris Vian. It is a pretty edition since it is a little nice case.
And today, I bought a copy of Breaking Away or French Leave (both title exist in English) by Anna Gavalda.

I haven't purchased anything for a while, I'm moving from a dorm room to an apartment, so just don't have the money right now. But a few days ago someone left three Harlequin books at my doorstep, with a note "noticed you read a lot, I don't need them anymore". I've never read any Harlequin books, but I do appreciate that someone felt the need to give me something.

Haha, cool, free books...but harlequin, aren't those weird romance books? I got my friend a birthday present, "The Teleportation Accident" by Ned Beauman, and then I kinda felt I deserved a reward for that and got myself Flann O'Brien's "The Third Policeman". Purchased them in an honest to god real bookstore, totally overpriced (well compared to amazon) and the salesperson thanked me like 5 times!

sorry, what's an Harlequin book? Like Bina said, they are these romance novels, that usually have quite racy details in them. Anyway, it is cool to know, that someone reads and then shares these books. I heard, that I wasn't the first one in our building to get this kind of present.

I just bought Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling since the paperback is out now (and it is much more affordable for me). I also bought another one : La liseuse by Paul Fournel (I didn't find an English title), a novel about new technologies like e-reader and if they will one day replace real paper books.
