I saw this at the second hand book store the other day, but I didn't buy it. Now I think I might go back and get it. I saw it is on our bookclub list in the making, and that Jefie has read it in one of the list threads. Is it good? What do people like about it?
The copy I found had clippings about the author's death and significance of his work, which I thought was very cool!

It's been a while since I've read it, but I remember enjoying it. It's not a light story, but I learned a lot while reading it. Actually, I read it as part of an American history class and our prof had recommended it as a really great portrait of the American working class life at the beginning of the 20th century - it's sort of the underside of the American dream, very interesting and well written.

hmmm... I hope it's still at the shop! Don't you hate when that happens? non-buyers remorse.

I "read" it in AP US History in high school (or at least my teacher thinkgs I read it). I couldn't get into it, so I never made it all the way through. I would like to try again though now that I am older.

I have this book! I bought it last summer with every intention to read it but was sidetracked somehow! I completely forgot about it. I'll read it soon and let you guys know how it is.
